Tutti i nuovi computer presentati (oggi) includono di serie Mac OS X Lion, l’ottava importante versione del sistema operativo di Apple, e le app iLife per creare e condividere foto, filmati e musica.

Lion introduce oltre 250 nuove funzionalità, tra cui nuovi gesti Multi-Touch; supporto a livello di sistema per le app a tutto schermo; Mission Control, una nuova funzione innovativa che dà una visione d’insieme di tutto quello che avviene nel Mac; Mac App Store, il posto migliore dove trovare ed esplorare software eccezionali, integrato direttamente nell’OS; Launchpad, che dà accesso immediato a tutte le app del Mac; e un’applicazione Mail interamente riprogettata.

Nielsen ha provato a misurare quanto le piattaforme impegnano i network:
Android è il sistema operativo per smartphone che consuma di più con 582 MB mensili, seguito dall'iOS, che Apple utilizzata su iPhone, iPod touch e iPad, con 492 MB mensili.
Al terzo posto WebOS di HP con 448 MB al mese, mentre Microsoft Windows Phone 7 arriva quarto con 317 MB.
Il meno esigente è BlackBerry OS, come più volte conclamato da Research in Motion, con soli 127 MB al mese di traffico dati.

Nielsen has tried to measure how committed the network platforms:

"Immaginate che un giorno intere sezioni della vostra biblioteca vengano rese inaccessibili. Non vi verrà mai detto perché ma troverete solo un cartello che vi informa che qualcuno, da qualche parte, per qualche ragione, ha segnalato che i libri di quella sezione violano i diritti".
La mobilitazione muove i primi passi in rete, con l'apertura di Sitononraggiungibile, un portale che ospita documenti, analisi e approfondimenti. E una raccolta di firme che ha superato quota 15 mila.
